Find Qualified Vein Doctor for Treating Varicose Veins at Nu Vela Esthetica

Restless legs and varicose veins happen to many people and these can create problems in living comfortably. Uncomfortable legs make it very difficult for people to do their routine chores and even have any kind of enjoyment in life. The disscomfort in the legs gets worse due to the routine lifestyle and other factors in daily life. Many people think it is unavoidable part of old age. Millions of people around the globe, especially women, suffer from this problem.

Varicose veins can happen to anyone and most of the instances are observed in people aged over 50. This is a problem when the veins in the leg find it difficult to pump back the blood to the heart against the force of gravity. As the fluid is not going back, it causes heavy load on the leg veins, while gives swelling and pain. Getting treatment for the problem stops the veins from becoming troublesome. Unlike in the past when too many treatment options were not available, new technology and procedures have revolutionized the treatment of varicose veins. It is not anymore required to stay in the hospital or get general anesthesia.

Treatment of varicose veins is a very delicate procedure and requires special skills and training. Currently, phlebologists are the experts in treating varicose and spider veins. Therefore, It's important to find a competent and a well-qualified vein doctor or a phlebologist for any kinds of varicose vein treatment. As a patient, make sure to enquire the vein doctor's qualifications before signing up for treatment. Get Rid of Superficial Veins at an Advanced Vein Clinic

Varicose veins are the bluish, bulging, swollen and twisted veins running beneath the skin surface. These veins are most common among the superficial veins of the legs often giving them unshapely appearance. For some, varicose veins may not cause any problems; for others they may cause leg heaviness, swelling, darkening of the skin, restless legs, and aching pain that may gets worse after sitting or standing for a long time. While many people seek varicose vein treatment to provide a new look to the body, varicose veins sometimes may lead to serious health problems if left untreated. These include painful sores or skin ulcers that are hard to heal, bleeding, or formation of blood clots, which can be fatal if they travel to the lungs. Spider veins are tiny veins (capillaries) that appear as red or blue squiggle lines or may appear in spider shape. These veins are closer to the surface of the skin than varicose veins.

Nowadays, thanks to the advancement in medical technology and the availability of minimally invasive procedures, spider and varicose treatments are almost pain-free, do not require hospitalization, and are most often performed in specialized vein clinics. The latter offer various varicose treatments that require specialized expensive equipments, such as the EVLT (endovenous vein treatment) and the VNUS closure systems, Ultrasound Duplex imaging, and lasers specifically made for vein treatment.

In these advanced vein clinics, bulging and large veins are treated either with EVLT or the VNUS closure procedures, both are endovenous; meaning diseased veins are accessed and treated from inside the vein by means of a catheter guided through the veins according to instructions obtained from an Ultrasound Duplex imaging device. Recent studies suggest that patient satisfaction is higher with the VNUS closure procedure than with EVLT because the former causes less pain in the days following treatment. It should be mentioned that Nu Vela has the Sciton's EVLT system, which is the least pain causing system in its category.

Vein clinics offer another treatment, called foam sclerotherapy, to treat branch varicosities. These are medium sized, often curved veins that branch outward from larger veins. For this treatment, the doctor uses a special device to prepare a foam by mixing a medicine and a gas; either air or carbon dioxide. The foam is then injected directly into the diseased vein following instructions obtained from an Ultrasound Duplex imaging.

Although sclerotherapy, the treatment procedure for spider veins, uses only a tiny needle to inject a medicine directly into the vein, treatment of these veins in an advance vein clinic will be a better choice to obtain long lasting outcome. The reason is that, you may have larger and deeper diseased veins that serve as “feeder” veins for these smaller veins. If these veins are not treated before treating your spider veins, then the latter will recur and new ones appear soon after sclerotherapy. An Ultrsound Duplex study will identify these veins.

As a conclusion, if you suffer from symptoms associated with vein disease, you will not need hospitalization, and a doctor’s office will not usually be equipped with the expensive and sophisticated equipments needed for vein treatment. Your best choice is then to find a reliable vein clinic, where treatment is provided by an experienced phlebologist. Phlebology is the study of veins and management of vein disease with an emphasis on the new technology required by the minimally invasive procedures.

suejerdak » Sclerotherapy is the Best Leg Spider Vein Treatment

While varicose veins appear as large, twisted, bulging, distended dark blue ropes beneath the skin, the spider veins present as small webs of red, purple or blue clusters or lines disfiguring the skin surface. These veins are not usually life threatening; however, they can disrupt and interfere with a person's comfort or style of living. Spider veins can be found on the legs and face and can cover either a very small or very large area of the skin. The presence of these veins on the legs is often an indication of faulty valves either in the spider veins themselves or the larger veins that “feed” them. Veins have valves that force blood to flow back to the heart against the force of gravity. When faulty, blood pools in the veins and causes them to enlarge.

Leg spider veins rarely are a serious health problem, but they can cause itching, burning, and uncomfortable feelings in the legs. Many factors increase a person's chances of developing spider veins. Being born with weak vein valves or having family members with vein problems; for example, increases your risk of developing these veins. Hormonal changes, pregnancy, obesity, sitting or standing for a long time, crossing your legs while sitting, sun exposure, trauma, and faulty diet may all be contributors.

Although lifestyle changes, such as, wearing compression stockings, exercising, or eating healthy food, may prevent the worsening of spider veins, the only rapid and effective way to get rid of them is through medical intervention. The oldest and most common spider vein treatment is known as sclerotherapy. Laser therapy is another spider vein treatment option; however, the procedure is more painful, more expensive, and require more visits .Most doctors reserve laser vein therapy for facial veins, because sclerotherapy of facial may cause blindness.

Sclerotherapy involves the injection of a fluid (sclerosing agent) directly into the diseased veins. The sclerosing agent irritates the vessels, causing them to clump together or clot and become less noticeable. In the Unites States, vein specialists usually use either Polidocanol or Sotradecol (Sodium Tetradecyl Sulfate or STS) as sclerosing agents. They are both approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for that purpose. Chromated Glycerin (Sclermo), used by many doctors in the States, is not yet FDA-approved, despite being a very popular sclerosant throughout the world with a long track record of safety. Hypertonic saline (salt solution); on the other hand, is FDA approved, but not for sclerotherapy.

Sclerotherapy injections do not require anesthesia because the procedure feels like tiny needle sticks. You can return to normal activity right after treatment. The number of veins treated in one session varies, and depends on the abundance of the veins. The spider vein treatment procedure is usually completed within 15 to 45 minutes. In general, spider veins respond to treatment in 3 to 6 weeks, and larger veins respond in 3 to 4 months. It is estimated that as many as 50 to 80 percent of injected veins may be eliminated with each injection session. You may be asked to wear compression stockings after sclerotherapy to help with healing and decrease swelling and bruising.

A few (less than 10 percent) of patients do not respond to sclerotherapy at all or the veins recur soon after the treatment. In these instances, different solutions or a different method, such as laser therapy, may be tried. Failed spider vein treatment often means that a hidden source of venous reflux in the larger “feeder” veins was overlooked. These can be identified by means of Ultrasound Duplex imaging and treated with one of the minimally invasive procedures intended for that purpose. Venous Reflux refers to an abnormal communication between the body’s superficial and the deep vein system allowing reverse flow from the deep vein system into superficial veins.

Most side effects of sclerotherapy are not serious. They may include: allergic reaction to the sclerosant solution, stinging, bruising, burning or muscle cramps during injection, skin discoloration, raised, hive-like bumps, tiny sores, and lumps of blood that get trapped in a vein. Your doctor can drain the trapped blood with a small pinprick at a follow-up visit. The other side effects will usually subside in a matter of days or weeks. Additional evaluation may be needed in case a person diabetic or has personal or family history of blood clotting or bleeding disorders or large varicose veins. Be sure to talk with your doctor about your expectations and health condition, because spider vein treatment results will vary depending on your age, health, medications you take, and the abundance of your spider veins.
